BALKANS & SOUTHEAST EUROPE self-guided tour
The tour is one of our longest, and covers all the beautiful corners of the Balkans region. It combines our best-selling Beautiful Balkans Adventure and some sections of our guided Intriguing Southeast Europe tour.
Option 1:
If you have a few extra days to spare, we definitely suggest you to add a rest day in Zabljak, Montenegro or/and ancient city of Zadar, Croatia.
Option 2:
To save two days, we will turn the tour around a little bit and skip two nights in Croatia, probably one in Porec and one of the rest days, depending on your preferences.
Option 3:
You can save one more day, if you stay only one night in Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina or on Hvar Island, although we highly recommend rest days there.
- Dia 1 Arrival in Ljubljana Pick up the motorcycle, discuss the itinerary with an experienced guide.
- Dia 2 Ljubljana – Plitvice NP Cross to Croatia and visit spectacular Plitvice Lakes National Park.
- Dia 3 Plitvice NP – Sarajevo Crossing into Bosnia and Herzegovina experiencing some excellent riding across the country.
- Dia 4 Sarajevo rest day Stay in Sarajevo, the most Oriental city in Europe, and visit its old Turkish bazaar.
- Dia 5 Sarajevo – Žabljak After some amazing roads in Bosnia ride into Montenegro and its high mountains.
- Dia 6 Žabljak – Prizren Riding the Montenegro inland and crossing to Prizren in Kosovo.
- Dia 7 Prizren – Demir Kapija Very scenic ride, crossing to the Northern Macedonia, spending the night at beautiful vinery.
- Dia 8 Demir Kapija – Ohrid Riding curving roads of southwestern Macedonia, through forested and mountainous area.
- Dia 9 Ohrid rest day Walking the shores of the lake and discovering Ohrid’s Byzantine history.
- Dia 10 Ohrid – Tirana Crossing to Albania, heading over mountains towards Tirana, the capital of Albania.
- Dia 11 Tirana – Petrovac After following the curvy roads in Albania you cross to Montenegro, ending the day in a coastal town of Petrovac.
- Dia 12 Petrovac - Dubrovnik Climb the steep road up to Lovcen National Park, past Kotor and ride to Dubrovnik.
- Dia 13 Rest day in Dubrovnik Exploring Dubrovnik or riding to Montenegro.
- Dia 14 Dubrovnik – Hvar Island Riding the scenic costal road northwest, catching the ferry to lush green Hvar Island.
- Dia 15 Rest day in Hvar Island It's all about relaxing or exploring the island from the bike.
- Dia 16 Hvar Island – Zadar Ride past Split and Krka National Park and arrive in a coastal city of Zadar.
- Dia 17 Zadar – Poreč Take the seaside roller coaster road up the Adriatic coast and end the day in ancient Roman town of Poreč.
- Dia 18 Poreč – Ljubljana Explore the Istrian Peninsula and cross back to Slovenia.
- Dia 19 Ljubljana departure Flight home.
