Slovenia with its diverse riding roads snaking through the landscapes is the living picture of diversity in such a small area. The landscape changes in shape and color, from the glacier valley of the Savinja River, with its amazing Rinka waterfall, through the wine growing hills of Slovenske gorice, all the way to the wide, golden fields of the Drava and Mura Rivers.

The land is filled with masterpieces such as Jože Plečnik’s church in Bugojina, the beautiful Otočec Castle on a small island of the Krka River, the Vinarium lookout tower among the vineyards, the amazing Postojna Castle, and the impressive system of karst caves. You are most welcome to come ride with us as there are endless wonderful surprises still waiting to be discovered.

Day by day

Day 1: Arrival in Ljubljana

Welcome to Slovenia!

We will pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. After we get you settled and you become acquainted with your bike, just take it easy - rest in the hotel, see the town or take a short introductory ride to get accustomed to the bike. Before dinner we'll go through the itinerary and discuss the format of the tour.

Day 2: Ljubljana - Podčetrtek

We leave Ljubljana to travel the scenic route east towards the town of the Counts of Celje, home to the most influential Slovenian noble family.

Scenery changes as we glide through the beautiful Kozjansko park, one of the biggest and oldest protected areas in Slovenia. We will spend the rest of the day in Olimje town, home of a Monastery and its Old Pharmacy, not to mention the famous chocolate factory, where the smell and taste are simply irresistible! You can end the day relaxing at the Terme Olimia thermal spa.

Day 3: Podčetrtek - Ptuj

Leaving Podčetrtek, we descend into the wine growing region of Bizeljsko, surrounded by green hills, with plenty of vineyards scattered among small villages, mainly famous for sparkling wines.

Following the undulating landscape, we continue our ride/drive past numerous architectural heritage sites to another wine growing region, Haloze before, arriving in Ptuj, the oldest town in Slovenia. One of Ptuj’s countless treasures is Ptuj Wine Cellar, storing the oldest existing wine ever produced in Slovenia, dating from 1917.

Day 4: Ptuj - Lendava

A scenic ride through Jeruzalemske gorice Natural Park, famous for its high-quality wines is another delicacy for wine lovers, and especially white wines lovers.

We will also see the Island of Love floating mill on the Mura River before heading toward another prime wine-growing territory of Lendavske gorice.

The “capital,” Lendava, is a melting-pot of culture and cuisine (Slovenian, Hungarian and Croatian). The town’s star attraction and a landmark for the region is undoubtedly the Vinarium Tower, offering superlative panoramic views over the colorful landscape of lowlands and hills of Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia and Austria.

Day 5: Lendava - Ljubno

Side roads through interesting villages take us to Maribor, the proud home of the world’s oldest vine, which still produces between 35kg and 55kg of grapes (about 25l of wine) per year, despite being planted more than four centuries ago.

Continuing our scenic ride/drive, we meet & greet the Najevnik Linden, one of the oldest trees in Slovenia, before entering the highlight of the day, the Logarska valley. It is one of the most beautiful glacially formed Alpine valleys in Europe, surrounded by peaks over 2,000 m high.

Day 6: Ljubno - Otočec

Let’s break our routine a bit and start the day by visiting the (world’s first) beer dispensing fountain in Žalec!

Our route takes us further through Sevnica, the hometown of the current First Lady of the United States. The tiny town of Kostanjevica na Krki, located on an island, also called the “Venice of Dolenjska” is another one of today’s treats, being the smallest and at the same time oldest city in the Dolenjska region. In the afternoon we ride some more before arriving at Otocec castle, one of Slovenia's loveliest and most complete fortresses.

Day 7: Otočec - Postojna

We drive along the picturesque Krka river valley to the ruins of a once magnificent Soteska castle that offers a short photogenic respite, and then off we drive/ride to one of the most picturesque regions in Slovenia.

Bela Krajina (White region) is attractive for its quirky folklore, beautiful handicrafts, good wine and excellent dishes. The small village of Dolnje Jezero has a museum and a local mysterious attraction - Lake Cerknica, one of the largest intermittent lakes in Europe. When it is full, it is the largest lake in Slovenia, but when it dries up, it reveals extensive farming land. The lake shows a different face every season, and to see all of it, you will have to come back many times.

Day 8: Postojna - Ljubljana

Today we visit Predjama Castle, situated in the gaping mouth of a cavern halfway up a 130-meter cliff.

This medieval castle has one of the most dramatic settings anywhere and was once home of Erazem Lueger, the Slovenian equivalent of Robin Hood. We also get to explore Postojna cave, one of the most visited natural landmarks in Slovenia, and home to 'the human fish.’ A scenic and curvy ride via Rakitna will bring us back to Ljubljana, saying our final goodbye.

Day 9: Ljubljana, flight home

In the morning, you can stroll the old part of the city, including the colorful antique market.

The quaint, narrow streets along the right bank of the Ljubljanica River, with its medieval bridges, are reminiscent of Prague without the crowds.

Depending on the time of your flight back home, you may have time to climb the staircase to the 16th century fortification of Ljubljana Castle, which dominates the town, before heading out to the airport.
