Tuscany enchants with its winding roads, hillside villages surrounded by olive groves, country lanes, and such historic cities as Voltera, Florence, and Siena. This area of Italy is the quintessential “Bel Paese.” Our tour takes in the best sweeping roads, divulging the region’s treasures.

Starting from Florence, we ride through the Apennines Mountains to the picturesque, tiny Republic of San Marino, host of the motorcycle Grand Prix. We touch Umbria to explore the narrow streets of hilltop Assisi and continue along the rolling hills of the Val d'Orcia. We visit Montalcino, Pienza, Siena and the splendid Chianti region before embarking for beautiful Elba Island, once home to Napoleon. The tower city of San Gimignano is our "waving goodbye" point before returning to Florence. And should the land and architecture fail to inspire, the food and wine certainly will.

Day by day

Day 1: Arrival to Florence

Welcome to the colorful and beautiful city of Florence!

We'll meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. Depending on your time of arrival, you can join the guided tour of Florence, which will start at 9.30 AM. At 4 PM, we'll meet for the introductory briefing and in the evening go for a welcome dinner at a traditional Italian Trattoria.

Day 2: Florence - San Marino

Our first riding day in Tuscany takes us on scenic and twisty roads heading east, snaking through the countryside, dotted with small villages and well-tended farms.

Over the Alps di San Benedetto and Apennines, we reach San Marino, the world's fifth-smallest country. We head straight for the medieval settlement on the slopes of 750m high Monte Titano that was added to the Unesco World Heritage list in 2008.

Day 3: San Marino - Assisi

Our adventure leads us into the heart of Le Marche, Urbino, the historical center listed in the UNESCO World Heritage sites and the birthplace of Rafael, the famous painter and architect of the Renaissance.

A coffee is a must do before we start riding the hairpin curves of Bocca Trabaria and Bocca Serriola passes, entering the lush green Umbria region. Passing the hamlets of Gubbio, we'll welcome Perugia, the petite capital of Umbria, surrounded with fields and the slowly running Tiber River. We'll continue to meet its soul mate – the holy city of Assisi, to experience the idyllic atmosphere of the local agriturismo.

Day 4: Assisi - Siena

Leaving Assisi we’ll pass by Lake Trasimeno, the fourth biggest lake in Italy, before heading through the gentle, undulating hills and wonderful natural landscape of Montepulciano.

We continue to the beautiful valley of Val d'Orcia to stop at Pienza, known as the "ideal city of the Renaissance." After strolling around the cobbled streets of the city, we head west to Montalcino, and from there we choose the best riding roads in the Le Crete region to finally reach Siena.

Day 5: Rest day in Siena

On the rest day we can do an excellent loop north into the Chianti region, one of the most important wine- producing regions in Italy for centuries.

Through the countryside, rich in castles and chapels, we'll head to Greve and visit its famous Museum of Wine. Or you can simply enjoy Siena, one of Italy's most enchanting medieval towns. Stroll in the Piazza del Campo, the sunny main square where the locals gather, or wander the warren of narrow, medieval alleyways.

Day 6: Siena - Elba Island

Some more excellent riding awaits, heading south, amongst neat lines of vineyards, snaking through the valley of rolling green hills and swaying Cypress trees.

Finally, we reach the Etruscan coastal town of Piombino, our gateway to Elba Island. In 1814, when the would-be emperor of Europe, Napoleon Bonaparte, was first defeated, he was exiled to Elba. He would think twice about fleeing had he been exiled here today: the island has become renowned for its clear and blue sea, beautiful beaches, and the extraordinary richness of its landscape.

Day 7: Rest day on Elba Island

It’s all about relaxing today.

With its stunning beaches and glowing sunsets, Elba is a magnet for all the beauty and adventure lovers. Explore the island and its scrubby interior, which in the spring is brightened by millions of wildflowers in bloom. Elba has a tall, mountainous interior speckled with ancient villages, but the sea is never far away. You can rent a boat or a kayak to seek out a secluded cove of your own. From Marciana you can take a cabinovia, a special chairlift, to the 1.020 meters summit of Monte Capanne for a stunning view of the entire Archipelago. The options are plenty.

Day 8: Elba Island - Florence

On our last riding day we hop back to the mainland and first stop in Volterra to stroll its well-preserved medieval ramparts and extensive network of mysterious alleys.

We continue to San Gimignano, which, with its towers, looks like a medieval Manhattan. Wander the town's streets. Sample a bowl of the fabulous and award-winning Sergio's gelato while people-watching on the main piazza. On the way back to Florence we'll ride through some of the most scenic Tuscany countryside and even have a chance to make a quick visit to Pisa and its leaning tower.

Day 9: Flight home from Florence

Depart Florence.

If you have time before departure, spend a few more hours in this beautiful Renaissance city. Take a stroll to the Cattadrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, or Duomo, with its famous colorful, towering cupola. And have your last Italian pizza--there's a good chance you won't eat pizza this good for a while!
