Provence shares this sunny, dry climate, while Alsace, sheltered by the Vosges Mountains, is one of the driest regions in France. This is one of the sunniest areas in Europe, with generally over 2,500 hours of sunshine per year. Remember though, many high-altitude roads are best visited between June and September, as winter snow can linger for months.
The climate on the French Riviera is purely Mediterranean. Thousands of hours of sunshine each year mean your ride is unlikely to be affected by rain.
